Discover the stories behind the Bardic School in Dromnea on the Sheep’s Head peninsula

In 2016, Muintir Bháire Community Council engaged John Tierney of Eachtra Archaeological Projects to conduct a conservation plan for the remains and site of the O’Daly Bardic School in Dromnea, east of Kilcrohane village.
John’s talk will cover the results of the Bardic School survey, funded by The Heritage Council, detailing the challenges and potential of the site. A key element of the study has been to place the Bardic School in its local and national context – how does it relate to other sites on Sheep’s Head peninsula? How does it fit with other sites in Ireland?
In fact, it places the Sheep’s Head very much in the medieval landscape of the Gaelic Lordships before the Flight of the Earls.
Come along to this fascinating talk to learn more!
