Cronin’s Forge just outside Durrus is well-known as the home to the wonderful ironwork produced by Brian Cronin in a fourth-generation family business.
Now it’s staging an open day to help raise funds for the Durrus Defibrillator Group to ensure that this vital medical services are available on this remote peninsula in West Cork.
The open day also marks a new direction for the showroom alongside the forge. To celebrate the creation of the Wild Atlantic Way, the team at Cronin’s Forge has invited a handful of talented West Cork crafters to showcase their wares at the new Cronin’s Forge craft shop.
For months, Carmel Cronin has been working with the exceptionally-gifted crafters in West Cork and looking to identify pieces that would compliment items in Cronin’s Forge’s own collection. The items chosen to feature in the shop demonstrate the same attention to design and workmanship that the Cronins themselves dedicate to their own pieces.
Cronin’s Forge has also commissioned a ‘Cronin’s Forge’ mug from Helen Ennis at Dunbeacon Pottery to mark the launch of their new venture.
The Forge’s shop, just outside Durrus on the Sheep’s Head peninsula, is home to some truly lovely things, perfect for gifts, touring momentoes, or treats!
