Light on Stone Photography Workshop

Hone your creative skills at the West Cork Stone Symposium’s ‘Light on Stone’ photography workshop

This is a chance to improve your photography skills at our one-day stone-themed workshop! Take pictures of the stone-filled West Cork landscape, capture images of stone masons at work, and discover how to photograph the wonders of stone in close-up.

We’ll be working alongside the craft workshops at the stone symposium, tackling different kinds of challenges against the backdrop of West Cork’s stunning Sheep’s Head peninsula – a European Destination of Excellence. You’re sure to be inspired throughout the day by the creativity of the Wild Atlantic Way as well as this stunning coastline!

An Inspiring Place

Craftspeople, artists and photographers draw constant inspiration from the extraordinary quality of West Cork’s light: this is the perfect place to spend time learning how to make the best of your camera.

The ‘Light on Stone’ photography workshop is for photographers of any skill or equipment level. It doesn’t matter whether your bring along your smartphone or the latest DSLR. The programme will include an indoor tuition session, a guided practical session, and picture review.

Course Tutor: Ben Russell
Ben Russell is a photographer and photography tutor based in West Cork. He has contributed to many magazines and books and devised photography training for organisations, groups and individuals. Ben is self-taught and understands the challenges and daunting complexity of digital cameras!

Much of Ben’s work has involved creating illustrations for magazines and books, and he has had over 6,000 images published, including 25 cover shots.

Date and Time
Saturday, March 25, 2017 – 10am to 5pm.

Location
Sheep’s Head peninsula, Co. Cork

Photography Workshop Arrangements
Try a compact ‘mirrorless’ camera during the ‘Light on Stone’ photography workshop. Ben will bring some Olympus OM-D mirrorless cameras and lenses for participants to try out. This is the equipment Ben favours for all his personal and professional photography.

Refreshments are included, but you will need to bring a packed lunch!

The photography workshop is part of a packed programme of events at the West Cork Stone Symposium, so why not plan to stay for a few days to enjoy everything the event has to offer?
