Whiddy Island walk and whiskey tour

Get a real taste of Ireland when you enjoy a walk and whiskey tour on Whiddy Island in West Cork’s Bantry Bay!

Take the short trip from Bantry town to the unique location of Whiddy Island – one of West Cork’s seven inhabited islands.

Your guide, islander Tim O’Leary will share the secrets of the island’s past as you encounter the traces left by previous generations in the Martello towers, gun batteries, and other stone monuments that have stood the test of time.

After your walk, retire to Whiddy Island’s Bank House pub where Liquid Curiosity’s Jaq Stedman will take you on a kind of whiskey tour, introducing you to the distinctive flavours of Ireland’s exciting new whiskies.

It’s a great excuse to drink in the scenery!

Walk and Whiskey Tour Arrangements

The ferry will leave Bantry Pier at 2pm.* The walk takes about 2.5 hours and it will take place over mixed terrain so good shoes are required. The walk will finish at The Bank House pub where you’ll enjoy your whiskey tasting session before you return to Bantry on the 6pm ferry. The ferry journey takes approximately ten minutes each way.

*Please note that the ferry is currently leaving from the Railway Pier due to improvement works that are taking place on the main pier. We will confirm the exact departure location in the days before the event.

The ‘Walk and Whiskey Tour’ fee €35 includes your ferry trip to Whiddy Island, a guided walk, and your whiskey tasting session. Booking Essential!
