Bantry Course Dunmanus Wild Atlantic Way

Come and sail the Wild Atlantic Way on a 2 day cruise from Ahakista on West Cork’s rugged Sheep’s Head peninsula.

On day one we’ll sail out of Dunmanus Bay and either head to Cahersiveen or Dingle non-stop, via the World Heritage Site of Skellig Michael.

Skellig Michael is known throughout the world of archaeology as the site of a well-preserved monastic outpost of the Early Christian period and is now a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. Small Skellig is equally renowned in matters of ornithology as the home of some 27,000 pairs of gannets, the second largest colony of such seabirds in the world.

Wisps of cloud often adorning the peaks of these pinnacles creates a volcanic impression, but there is nothing volcanic about these Skelligs rocks. They were created some 350 million years ago and are same Devonian Sandstone that runs right through the backbone of Kerry, from the county’s south-western headlands to the shores of Killarney’s lakes.

With luck, you’ll see local dolphins, minkie whales, sunfish and leatherback sea turtles along the way, so have your camera’s ready!

You will enjoy one night aboard Merlin after which we make the return journey to Ahakista on the cruise’s second day.
