The Sheep's Head Challenge

Sheep’s Head Challenge 2023

Welcome to the Sheep’s Head Challenge, the most scenic and challenging 10 mile off-road run anywhere!

The Sheep’s Head Challenge is a trek through the heart of West Cork on the Sheep’s Head Peninsula. You can walk, run or hike, you choose!

First held in 2015, the challenge has attracted over 340 walkers and runners, and more than €4000 has been raised for different charities.

If chip-timing, a flat course and a finishing medal are your thing, this is not for you! However, if you would like to be part of a community-based race that explores the landscape of stunning West Cork, register now.

The Sheep’s Head Challenge is a 10 mile (mainly off-road) route that begins and finishes at the Tin Pub in Ahakista. The Challenge follows the Glanlough Loop on the Sheep’s Head Way, walkers start at 9.30 am and runners at 11.30 am

The race will have a medical team in place,  and local volunteers will be on hand to support the race. Water stations will be set up along the route and at the finish line.

Après race will be held at the Tin Pub with music later in the evening.

You can register online or at the Tin Pub on the day.

Cost: €25, U18s €10

Contact: 086 168 1740

This year all proceeds from the event will go to Muintir Bhaire Sea Scouts and Muintir Bhaire Foroige group.
