January 2016 – Gállan Mór ranked NO. 1 for the whole of County Cork on TripAdvisor

Our four luxurious bedrooms, three with vaulted ceilings, offer sumptuous beds and stunning views. Our rooms overlook Dunmanus Bay and a gorgeous stretch of Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way.

Each room has been individually furnished with a pleasing blend of antique and contemporary furniture. The fourth on the ground floor boasts a four-poster king size bed, large wet room and lovely views of the Sheep’s Head hills to the rear of the house.

With our small and intimate set-up we can promise our guests a level of comfort and personal service that will ensure that their stay with us is a memorable one.

Gorgeous Food & Gardens

Since opening Gallán Mór has risen to the top of the TripAdvisor rankings and developed quite a reputation for the delicious breakfasts and home-baking lovingly prepared using traditional artisan techniques by Lorna. Home-made white and brown bread, home-made jams, and marmalades, scones, lavender shortbreads, cookies, granola, compote plus Noel’s honey from the apiary and herbal teas from the herb garden. Gallán Mór’s Special -‘ The Dutch Baby’ has been wowing guests from all over the globe! You just have to try it.

The beautiful one-acre garden at Gallán Mór has been created to give our guests the opportunity to enjoy the meandering pathways and secluded seating areas, offering breath-taking sea views over Dunmanus Bay, the Sheep’s Head peninsula and our neighbouring Mizen peninsula.

Gallán Mór is an ideal base for walking the Sheep’s Head Way and its wonderful loop walks. It’s also a great base for anyone exploring West Cork and The Ring of Kerry.

We are just a short drive from Bantry where there are plenty of events, pubs and eateries for you to enjoy. Closer to home there are fabulous places to eat such as Blairscove Restaurant, which offers fine dining at its very best and also Arundel’s by the Pier in nearby Ahakista which has live music, good food and a pub garden overlooking the harbour. Durrus has four pubs some of which serve food and have live music. Sailing trips, shore fishing, and cycle hire are all available locally.

Blairscove House

December 31, 2013 by Dunmanus

Blairscove Accommodation

Surrounded by 4.5 acres of lawns and gardens, in West Cork, Blairscove House and restaurant is the ideal place to spend a few relaxing days

Since 1972, Blairscove has remained in the hands of the same family; and Philippe and Sabine De Mey, the present owners, continue to provide top quality dining and accommodation.

The accommodation at Blairscove House consists of four apartments which are situated around the courtyard of a Georgian house and two cottages, one in the grounds and the other 14km away at Dunmanus pier. All the accommodation can be rented on a self-catering basis from Saturday to Saturday. The courtyard apartments can also be rented on a bed and breakfast basis.

Award-Winning Restaurant

The gorgeous restaurant is recommended by the Michelin Guide, has been awarded AA 5 stars, and has 2 AA rosettes.

Blairscove RestaurantThe stunning Blairscove dining room is high-beamed like a church, converted from the former stables. The setting makes this a very popular setting for weddings and special celebrations!

The dining room is headed by a wood burning grill where meats are cooked over embers. The restaurant is open for dinner from mid-March to the end of October Tuesday to Saturday. Vegetarian options and we can also offer food prepared with ingredients not containing gluten.

For the active, the Mizen peninsula’s sandy beaches are just a short drive away and the Sheep’s Head peninsula boasts miles and miles of scenic walks. Bantry, Schull, Ballydehob and Skibbereen with their festivals, pubs, shops, and restaurants offer plenty of action, not forgetting the golf courses of Bantry and Glengarriff which are among the most scenic you will ever play.

The pace is slow, the people are friendly. Pubs are plentiful and the food is wholesome and fresh. Above all, at Blairscove you will discover a place which is cosmopolitan and sophisticated, yet at the same time unspoilt and breathtakingly beautiful.
