Brick Oven

November 21, 2013 by Dunmanus

Established in 1997 by Stephen and Gillian O’Donovan, The Brick Oven is a popular family-run restaurant serving delicious pizzas, steaks, and seafood in the heart of Bantry.

A range of daily specials are on offer reflecting the best of the day’s catch. Try local scallops, mussels and monkfish to get a taste of Bantry Bay’s seafood, or enjoy a glass of wine with one of the delicious homemade pizzas baked freshly for you in the wood-burning brick oven.

You’ll be able to choose from a range of steaks, meats, salads and pasta dishes to suit all tastes and budgets. The easygoing atmosphere makes this a great place for a quick bite while you explore the town, or for a cosy evening meal. Eat there on a Friday to enjoy the sights and sounds of Bantry Farmers Market outside in Wolfe Tone Square.

The Brick Oven is centrally-located in Bantry within easy walking distance of Bantry House & Gardens and The Maritime Hotel. It’s a place where children and adults will all enjoy their meal, and larger groups are welcome too.

Organico

November 21, 2013 by Dunmanus

Organico is a vibrant Cafe that is at the heart of West Cork’s alternative food scene

Run by sisters Rachel and Hannah Dare with an energetic team of talented and friendly staff, Organico – which comprises a large and well-stocked Health Food Shop as well as the Cafe and a Bakery that specialises in healthy artisan baking – is a must for any foodie who visits West Cork.

The café’s welcoming and relaxed atmosphere makes it a popular destination with locals and visitors alike. Visit in July and August, and you’re likely to find yourself at a table next to writers and musicians from Bantry’s world-renowned chamber music and literary festivals.

Organico offers a full lunch menu, excellent coffee, great cakes and a large airy family friendly space with couches, toys and free WiFi. Don’t forget to stock up with local vegetables and organic treats in the shop on your way home!

According to John and Sally McKenna, “Organico is a vivid place. Everything in both the shop and the café pulses with energy, pulses with a sense of goodness, and creativity” (McKenna Guides 2014).
